Application
- In The Mass
- Universally acceptable for brightening sized and filled papers. Good resistance to acid and sizing — reliable processing even at low pH. In clay-filled papers, highly effective at medium filler addition. Prepare a highly dilute solution and add slowly to prevent mottling. Usually 0.2%–0.3% on the weight of pulp is sufficient for whiteness; in special cases up to 1.2% can be used for very high whiteness.
- In The Paper Surface
- Suitable for surface sizing with starch. Effect can be improved by adding small amounts of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) to the starch solution. Outstanding brightening effects in pigment coating compounds, especially those containing starch and bio/synthetic binders.
